As one of Australia’s most experienced audio describers of broadcast media, I have a wealth of knowledge in the field and am only too happy to share what I’ve learnt in almost two decades as a practitioner.
I have run panels and forums on Audio Description at festivals including The Other Film Festival and Access All Areas Film Festival, presented conference papers on the subject, lectured on AD at Western Sydney University and conducted extensive and varied training programs at SBS. I have also done numerous radio interviews on the topic of Audio Description, including for ABC’s AM and Nightlife, Triple J, FBI Radio, Coast FM and Radio 6PR in Perth.
I can offer a broad overview or a more detailed presentation about AD, tailored to your needs. Just give me a call or send me an email so we can discuss your requirements. My experience as a trainer and mentor to new describers means you shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch if you or anyone in your company are interested in learning the art of Audio Description.
We recently invited Fran to give a seminar at SBS Subtitling Department on Audio Description. Fran’s presentation was overwhelmingly well received. It was one of the most informative, insightful and inspiring talks we have had on media accessibility. Fran’s in-depth knowledge of AD, her extensive practice in AD and her engaging presentation style made the talk a resounding success.
